Meet the Instructor

Maddy Griner

I’m a trauma ICU nurse by night and a creator by day! I work in the TICU at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, and I was born and raised in Clemmons/Winston. I never considered myself to be artistic or creative until I decided I needed a hobby when I started working in the ICU in 2020. The hobby of making clay jewelry started as a way to decompress after long shifts and as a way to wake up on my days off, but it has progressed to so much more. I want to be able to show others that they can be artistic and creative as well, and to teach new techniques, demonstrating that there is no right way to make art. I will be attending Wake Forest University in the fall in the Nurse Anesthesia program and I’m looking forward to keeping the art alive during school.
