Spark Your Creativity with Soldering Basics!
Dive into the world of electronics with our hands-on soldering class! Whether you’re a total beginner or looking to refine your technique, this course will teach you the essential skills needed to bring your electronic projects to life.
In this class, you’ll:
• Master Soldering Tools: Learn to safely handle a soldering iron and essential tools.
• Build Confidence with Circuit Boards: Practice soldering components to a printed circuit board (PCB).
• Understand Materials: Explore different types of solder, flux, and their uses.
• Troubleshoot Like a Pro: Identify and fix common soldering issues, from cold joints to bridges.
• Create Simple Circuits: Gain practical experience and walk away with your own completed project!
By the end of the class, you’ll not only understand key soldering techniques but also feel empowered to take on more advanced electronics projects. Join us and turn your ideas into reality—one connection at a time!

Lyssa Troemel is in her third year of studies in Animatronics at UNCSA. Prior to enrolling at UNCSA, she was a props master and puppet builder in the Fort Wayne, IN area. Her work gained the attention of the local band Silbo Gomero and she collaborated with them to produce the award-winning shadow puppet music video “Whale Fall”. She also served on the Board of Directors of Puppeteers of America for two years. She loves to find ways to fuse the arts with technology and continues to do so in her studies.
