Curious about jewelry making but not sure where to start? This two-part workshop introduces the essential tools and techniques to get started with wire jewelry design.

During the first session, you will learn the foundational skills needed to begin making jewelry, including understanding wire gauges, proper usage of jewelry pliers, and tool safety. You'll be taken through the process of learning basic jewelry components and creating your own jump rings, headpins, and eye pins.

During the second session, you will use all the techniques learned in the first session to create your own pair of gemstone earrings from start to finish! You'll get to create various elements in wire joined together with gemstones to make your own unique pair!

Important Note: Some amount of manual dexterity is required to form the wire.

Meet your Instructor: Kendra Jones (she/her)

Hi, I’m Kendra Jones — a multidisciplinary artist, jewelry designer, and digital illustrator based in Winston-Salem. My work blends hands-on craftsmanship with digital creativity, from metalsmithing and wirework to illustration and design using Procreate and Photoshop. I’m passionate about helping people discover the joy of creating—whether that’s shaping metal, sketching on an iPad, or exploring new artistic tools. My classes focus on creativity without limits, encouraging students to experiment, express themselves, and build confidence through art.

This class is for makers 16 years old and older. Makers under the age of 16 are required to be accompanied by an adult at Mixxer. For any questions please email workshops@wsmixxer.org

Workshops must meet a minimum number of registrations. Mixxer may cancel workshop 48 hours prior to start time, if minimum is not met. Should you need to cancel your registration, 48 hours notice is required to request a cancellation, refund or credit to future workshop date.
