Weld a Mini Trellis

Minimum Age: 13 Years Old

Learn the basics of welding and create your very own mini trellis for your flower pots! During this class you'll be taken through the process of how to cut, form, and weld together rebar. You'll start by cutting your rebar to size and assembling your trellis shape. Once you've created your trellis, you will then learn the basics of MIG welding to attach your pieces. By the end you'll have the perfect mini trellis to add to your flower pots all season long!

IMPORTANT NOTE: Be sure to wear natural materials (no spandex, nylon, etc.) and long pants that cover your boots or close toed shoes. We'll provide the rest of the safety gear you'll need.

Lyssa Troemel is in her third year of studies in Animatronics at UNCSA. Prior to enrolling at UNCSA, she was a props master and puppet builder in the Fort Wayne, IN area. Her work gained the attention of the local band Silbo Gomero and she collaborated with them to produce the award-winning shadow puppet music video “Whale Fall”. She also served on the Board of Directors of Puppeteers of America for two years. She loves to find ways to fuse the arts with technology and continues to do so in her studies. This class is for makers 13 years old and older. All makers ages 16 years old and under must be accompanied by an adult.  Please email workshops@wsmixxer.org for any questions.

Workshops must meet a minimum number of registrations. Mixxer may cancel workshop 48 hours prior to start time, if minimum is not met. Should you need to cancel your registration, 48 hours notice is required to request a cancellation, refund or credit to future workshop date.
