Sign up to compete in the St. Valentine's Day Massacre Robot Rumble at Mixxer Community Makerspace! Whether you're a first-time competitor or you're a seasoned builder, jump in and compete! This competition will include Fairyweight, Ant, Plastic Ant, and Beetle classes in a modified double elimination match.


Event Details:

  • Classes: Fairyweight (150 g), Ant (1 lbs), Plastic Ant, Beetles (3 lbs)

  • Schedule:

    •  8:00 - 9:30 AM: Safety Inspections (required to compete)

    • 9:30 AM: Builder's Meeting 

    • 10:00 AM: First Fight Begins

    • 1:00 PM: Lunch provided

  • Fight Duration: 2-minute fights

    • 20 minute guaranteed between fights, 1 deferment allowed per robot.

  • Judging: 3 judge panel using 5-4 (damage, engagement) metric.

    • Damage is worth 4 points while engagement is worth 5. Each judge picks a winner.

    • Modified double elimination (single final fight)

  • Awards: Trophies awarded for 1st- 3rd place for Fairy, Ant, Plastic Ant, and Beetle, 1 trophy for Most Destructive Robot, and 1 trophy for Most Destroyed Robot

    • Trophies are presented after the final fight ends


Space Details:

  • Cages:

    • 8 x 8’ with fiberglass floor for Plants, Ants, and Beetles

    • 4' x 4' For Fairyweights

    • Floor material details from Lowe's

  • Team Space: Each team will have one table (5’ minimum), two chairs, and a nearby power outlet.

    • Your equipment and storage will need to stay within the table volume.

    • Bring your own power strip. 

    • Two teams may request to be placed at the same table if both make the request at registration

  • Communal Space: Soldering station and grinding station will be made available to all teams

    • Test cage will also be available for use

  • Accommodations will be considered upon request


Registration Details:

  • Fee: $20 per robot due at registration

    • Includes 2 pit passes per robot

    • Only one robot per driver per weight class, please.

  • Team Members: Please be ready with your team name, robot names, and all team member names at registration

  • Liability Waivers: All team members must fill out BOTH the Combat Robotics Waiver and the Mixxer Community Makerspace Waiver. Physical versions will be available at the door, or complete them prior with the links below.

  • Team Guests: Please have any non-competing guests fill out the Mixxer Community Makerspace Waiver

    • Optional- If you know the names of your guests, please provide them at registration for quicker check-in.

  • Media Release: Included in the Mixxer Community Makerspace Waiver is a consent for photos and videos taken of the event to be used for advertising, social media, etc. Please be aware that staff & volunteers will be recording throughout the duration of the event.

    • A shared photo/video library will also be available after the competition

  • Waitlist: Robots on the waitlist will be contacted on a first-come, first-served basis upon a robot dropping out.

  • Event Logistics: Registered builders will receive an email in the week leading up to the event with more information


Mixxer Community Makerspace Policies

  • The 3 most important rules: Be Kind, Be Safe, and Have Fun

  • Anyone under the age of 16 years old must be accompanied by an adult

  • Food and beverages are permitted in the building

    • No alcoholic beverages permitted on the premises

  • Guests may only use the tools they have been authorized to use and must stay within the authorized shop areas

  • No animals are permitted inside the building with the exception of service animals
