Lead by: Monica Douglas

My name is Monica Douglas. I am a local Visual Artist native of Winston Salem N.C. I have been a visual artist for 10 years. I am an Art Teacher/Instructor for homeschool groups where I have been teaching for 5 years. I mostly create Abstract style artwork using acrylic and watercolor, but I also enjoy incorporating mixed media within my paintings which generally emphasizes the use of bold colors, textures and patterns. I am the owner of Art by Monica which is an art based small business where I sell artwork and lead art workshops for small groups. The workshops are centered around self-expression,creativity,and mental wellness. These are vital artistic components that I am passionate about as well as advocate for. I am also the owner of Humble Hearted Humans, a grassroot local community driven organization that is faith and art based. We focus on helping fill in the gaps of those in need. Humble Hearted Humans also uses art and other resources to assist others with mental wellness and provides general awareness. I have 20 years of knowledge in artistic expression through painting, drawing and other styles of art. I have been an exhibiting artist for 10 years and I previously served as a board member for a local art organization from 2022-2025. I have had experience in leading art workshops for 5 years. I have over 12 years of educational skills. I have a background in Early Childhood Education and currently teaching Kindergarten STEAM and literacy as well as currently teaching art for homeschool groups for the past 5 years. I have training in OMA through Senior Services which assists seniors diagnosed with Alzheimer's, and Dementia participants with open minded art activities. I have also instructed workshops for Cancer patients, survivors, as well as care takes for 3 years
This class is for makers 13 years old and older. All makers ages 16 years old and under must be accompanied by an adult. Please email workshops@wsmixxer.org for any questions.
