Learn the basics of needlefelting for 3-D forms based on a ball. In this class, you'll first learn some of the basic techniques, including how to properly use the needle and how to work with the felt to create a ball. You will then have the opportunity to use a base form to make your own design, or choose from easy design examples that will be provided. By the end of the class, you will go home with a kit of tools you need to keep practicing!
Important Note: Some manual dexterity is needed to hold the needle.
Lead by: Murphy Boski (she/her)
Murphy (Sharon Murphy Boski) came to the area to study electronic puppetry and has stayed around to explore her art form of Puppetry here at Mixxer. A professional puppeteer with a 30+ year career in Puppetry Arts, Murphy has found puppetry to be the reason to learn all sorts of (normally) unrelated things. She loves exploring new ways to use old materials and techniques as well as trying new techniques and materials with old ways of working. Her specialty is using 2-D and 3-D art in 4-D art forms.
This class is for makers 9 years old and older. All makers ages 16 years old and under must be accompanied by an adult. Please email workshops@wsmixxer.org for any questions.
