About the event
Sign up to compete in the Mixxer Summer Meltdown Robotics Scrimmage at Mixxer Community Makerspace!
This event will be a 2v2 tournament. On the morning of the event, you will be paired with a random teammate, and the two of you will fight as a team against 2 other competitors. This is an experimental format, so there is a possibility that I run into some unknown issues that make the event logistically impossible to hold. If this occurs, we will run 1v1 fights using a swiss bracket or double elimination.
You will not be able to pick your own teammate, and the pairings will be completely random.
Both bots must be incapacitated to qualify as a knockout.
If a bot is seemingly incapacitated, we encourage leaving them alone and focusing on their still functional teammate in the name of good sportsmanship.
Event Details:
Weight Class: Plant (Plastic Ant, 1 lbs)
Duration: two-minute fights
20 minutes guaranteed between fights. 1 deferment allowed per robot.
Judging: 3 judge panel using 5-4 (damage, engagement) metric. Damage is worth 4 points while engagement is worth 5. Each judge picks a winner.
Cage: 6' x 6’ with steel floors
Modified double elimination (single final fight)
Depending on the number of competitors in a given weight class, a modified swiss bracket may be used instead.
Each team will have one table (5' minimum) with 2 chairs, and a nearby outlet.
Bring your own power strip. Your equipment and storage will need to stay within the table volume.
Live Stream will be available
Accommodations may be made upon request
Awards: Trophies presented Sunday night, when final fight ends.
Trophies for 1st through 3rd place
Trophies will also be given to the most destructive robot and the most destroyed robot
Special trophies will be given to anyone who beats A Devil in God's Country
Temperature Note: Mixxer can get warm during the summer. Please ensure you stay hydrated and let event organizers know if you are sensitive to heat.

Robot Rules:
900 MHz, 2.4GHz, or spectrum radios required. Anything else needs prior approval
No flame weapons, no gas-powered robots. SPARC v1.5 rules apply
All Lipo batteries must be in a closed LiPo bag while charging
A visible weapon lock is required for all weapons.
A switch and power light are required. A jumper is acceptable in place of a switch if it can be easily and quickly connected
Only one robot per driver per weight class please.
Controlled motion is defined as the ability to move from one corner of the arena to the opposite corner in less than one minute.
If you can't pass safety or get within weight by 12:30, you will have to use your postponement.
If a part of your bot causes entanglement to your opponent more than 2 times in a fight, the fight will go to a judges decision with the judges deducting 1 point from whatever your damage score was when the 2nd entaglment occured. This rule only applies if the entanglement was caused by the same component of your bot.
Plastic Ant rule clarifications:
Sparc v1.5 plastic ant rules
Must be 3D printed plastic
PET, PETG, ABS, PLA, PLA+, HIPS are the only materials that can be used for the chassis and weapons. Composites are not allowed with the exception of the carbon fiber motor mounts commonly used to mount 16mm drive motors.
No other types of plastics or materials are allowed
Foam, Lego, or other Sparc v1.5 wheels are allowed. TPU & cast wheels are acceptable. TPU may not be used for any components other than wheels.
If TPU is used as a material for wheels, they must be less than 2" in diameter, and less than 0.5" in width
If it can be touched, it must be plastic. It is acceptable to epoxy, tape, or screw 3D printed components together and heads of the screws to be visible if they're only used for minimal support (i.e., attaching the top onto the sides of the robot, gluing 3D printed parts together at the seam if they'd be bigger than your print bed, etc.)
Motors, electronics, axles, fasteners and adhesives can be any reasonable material but cannot be used in such a way to enhance the structural integrity, armor the robot, or enhance any weapon.
Robot may be disqualified at the Event Organizer’s discretion if it is deemed to violate the spirit of the class. Contact the event organizer ahead of time if you are not sure your robot meets the above definition.
