About the event

Craft your own wooden frame for a mirror from start to finish in just two sessions! During this class you will learn all the basics of how to create your own wooden frames as well as getting to experience many of the basic tools in the woodshop!

You'll start with a fresh board during the first session, cut it to size with the table saw, and create a groove for the glass to sit in. Then you'll cut a joint with the miter saw before you will glue up the frame and let them cure until the second session.

During your second session, you'll secure the miter joints before sanding and finishing with oil or lacquer. Finally, you'll finish up your mirror by cutting a plywood backing to hold the mirror in place and attach hardware to hang it.

Safety

Be sure to wear long pants and close-toed shoes. We'll provide the rest of the safety gear you'll need.

Session 1: Tuesday, June 25 from 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Session 2: Thursday, June 27 from 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Lead by: Juan Antonio Cordoba Garcia

I am an Industrial Designer by degree and a whole animal butcher/farmer by belief. Colombian, born and raised. Moved to the US about 2 years ago. I love working with wood, ceramics, and leather goods, and the warmth they transmit. They bring life to any space. I believe in the importance of craftsmanship and artisanship, skills that are being lost and deserve to be conserved.

This class is for makers 16 years old and older.  Please email workshops@wsmixxer.org for any questions.

Workshops must meet a minimum number of registrations.  Mixxer may cancel workshop 48 hours prior to start time, if minimum is not met. Should you need to cancel your registration, 48 hours notice is required to request a cancellation, refund or credit to future workshop date.
