Make a Metal Rose

Minimum Age: 16 years old

Come create your very own metal rose that will never wilt! During this class, you'll take pre-cut metal pieces and turn them into a rose by bending, shaping, and welding the pieces into your own perfect rose! This class combines a variety of metal working techniques from welding your leaves to the stem to forging your petals to create the perfect natural look. By the end of the class, you'll leave with your very own unique metal rose!

IMPORTANT NOTE: Please wear a shirt that is of natural fibers, jeans, and shoes that completely cover feet. Safety gear will be supplied.

Lead by: Lyssa Troemel (she/her)

Lyssa Troemel is in her third year of studies in Animatronics at UNCSA. Prior to enrolling at UNCSA, she was a props master and puppet builder in the Fort Wayne, IN area. Her work gained the attention of the local band Silbo Gomero and she collaborated with them to produce the award-winning shadow puppet music video “Whale Fall”. She also served on the Board of Directors of Puppeteers of America for two years. She loves to find ways to fuse the arts with technology and continues to do so in her studies. This meet up is for makers 16 years old and older. All makers ages 16 years old and under must be accompanied by an adult.  Please email workshops@wsmixxer.org for any questions.

Workshops must meet a minimum number of registrations. Mixxer may cancel workshop 48 hours prior to start time, if minimum is not met. Should you need to cancel your registration, 48 hours notice is required to request a cancellation, refund or credit to future workshop date.
