Make a Leather Rose

Come learn to cut, dye and assemble a leather rose! For Mother's Day or every day, a leather rose will last much longer than any bouquet at the store! This class will cover the basics of leatherworking including of using dye to color your leather before cutting and sewing together your rose.

Note: Some manual dexterity required for cutting and sewing materials. We will be using gloves to handle dye, please let us know if you have a latex allergy and would need special gloves.

Meet your instructor! 

Elle Wilburn

Since 2001, Elle has been among costume creators in the cosplay scene. She is an aspiring mechanical engineer and graphic design student. She is a member of The FanDames, a group of female cosplayers that volunteer their time at conventions to fix and repair costumes. A self taught seamstress, Elle has a plethora of knowledge in the sewing world. Her hope has been to expand her creative horizons by joining forces with not only FanDames but also Ebon Legion, a leather working group. She loves all the different branches of crafting; whether it be graphic design, shop, sewing, and leather work. Elle hopes to bring her expertise and passion for creating to the Mixxer’s students.

This class is for makers 9 years old and older. All makers ages 16 years old and under must be accompanied by an adult.  Please email workshops@wsmixxer.org for any questions.

Workshops must meet a minimum number of registrations.  Mixxer may cancel workshop 48 hours prior to start time, if minimum is not met. Should you need to cancel your registration, 48 hours notice is required to request a cancellation, refund or credit to future workshop date.
