About the event
Come learn the basics of copper forging by creating 2 unique pairs of earrings! This class will take you through the process of hammering, forging, filing, polishing, and assembling your own copper earrings. We will discuss working with copper, learn and practice using butane and propane torches to anneal your copper, hammers, and forming tools to texturize them and smooth the edges to finish them for ultimate comfort so that they are ready to wear or gift!
You'll go home with two pairs of copper earrings and the knowledge you need to get started with your own copper forging projects.
IMPORTANT: Be sure to wear natural materials (no spandex, nylon, etc.) and long pants that cover your boots or close toed shoes. We'll provide the rest of the safety gear you'll need.

Elaine Lamson (she/her)

Elaine joined the Mixxer staff in the summer of 2019 when she moved to the area from Massachusetts. She couldn't be happier to have found a home in both the Triad and Mixxer's Community Makerspace! With a creative background in design & dance, she feels like she's found "her people" by moving to North Carolina and becoming a part of Mixxer's community.
Her superpower is identifying and celebrating in people's talents and strengths.
This meet up is for makers 16 years old and older. All makers under 16 years old must be accompanied by an adult. Please email workshops@wsmixxer.org for any questions.
Mixxer may cancel workshop 48 hours prior to start time, if minimum is not met. Should you need to cancel your registration, 48 hours notice is required to request a cancellation, refund or credit to future workshop date.
