Make a Chunky Rainbow Beaded Necklace

Minimum Age: 13 years old and older

Come join this introductory class into jewelry making and go home with a customized chunky rainbow necklace. Besides creating a colorful necklace you will also come away with the knowledge and skills to start making your own beaded jewelry! In this class you will learn the basics of using beads to create jewelry - how to choose the best type of bead and wire for your project, what kind of tools you need to get started, where to buy materials besides Amazon, and some design theory thrown in for fun.

Important note: Manual dexterity is required. You will be threading very thin wire through beading material and using different types of metal pliers and wire cutters.

Lori rolled into Winston Salem on New Years Day of 2023 and is thrilled to call this place home. She took her first Mixxer class a month after she arrived, a welding class for women. After taking her 3rd metal jewelry class at Mixxer that same year, a spark was ignited and she stayed up all night watching YouTube tutorials. Lori has been making and selling her jewelry for two years. She is always evolving as an artist and loves taking classes and learning new skills.

A retired educator, Lori has taught a variety of subjects to students ranging from 7th grade to university level. She has a BA in Psychology from Texas Tech University and an MA in Industrial Organizational Psychology from Touro University. She believes that if you are breathing you should be learning.

This class is for makers 13 years old and older. Makers under the age of 16 are required to be accompanied by an adult. For any questions please email workshops@wsmixxer.org

Workshops must meet a minimum number of registrations. Mixxer may cancel workshop 48 hours prior to start time, if minimum is not met. Should you need to cancel your registration, 48 hours notice is required to request a cancellation, refund or credit to future workshop date.
