Intro to Screen Printing

Minimum Age: 13 years old

Come learn how to screen print your very own garments!  This class will go over the whole process from how to get your design ready to printing your design! You'll get started by using free software to make your design screen ready before bringing your digital design into the physical with transparent paper. Then you'll learn how to prep and get your design on the screen. Once your screen is cured and ready you'll then get the chance to print on the garments you bring! By the end of this class you'll leave with your own one color screen printed design and all the knowledge you need to make your own screens!

IMPORTANT NOTE: Please bring your own 100% cotton garments to print on. You can bring t-shirts, button down shirts, or sweatshirts to print on.

Please send designs to workshops@wsmixxer.org at least 2 days before the class so our instructor can ensure it will work for screen printing. Designs should be a solid color and avoid thin lines. Please see below for reference of appropriate images for screen printing.

Lead by: Neil Underwood (he/him)

Neil Underwood is a long time member of the local maker community having started the first Hackerspace in Winston Salem back in 2011. He is also one of the North American administrators for the RepRap 3d printing research organization, and has a certificate in electrical engineering. These days Neil is a Graduate of Northern Lights Santa Academy and member of the Fraternal order of Real Beard Santas.

This meet up is for makers 13 years old and older. All makers ages 16 years old and under must be accompanied by an adult.  Please email workshops@wsmixxer.org for any questions.

Workshops must meet a minimum number of registrations. Mixxer may cancel workshop 48 hours prior to start time, if minimum is not met. Should you need to cancel your registration, 48 hours notice is required to request a cancellation, refund or credit to future workshop date.
