Intro to Mold Making
Learn the basics of resin casting!
Time & Location
Jul 05, 2025, 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Mixxer Makerspace, 1375 N Martin Luther King Jr Dr, Winston-Salem, NC 27101, USA
About the event
Learn to make a one piece mold suitable for casting resin, cement, wax or other similar materials! You'll make your very own mold using Smooth-On Sorta Clear 37 and an object of your choice. You can either bring an item or sculpt a quick object no larger than 3 cubic inches. You will be making a 1 part mold, leaving one side flat so please choose objects accordingly. The best part is that this material allows you to see what happens to the original object throughout the process!
Larger items must be pre-approved and will require an additional fee for additional mold making material. Please reach out to workshops@wsmixxer.org if you want to bring a larger object. This class will not include casting but you can bring your mold to a resin casting class to use!
Lead by: Murphy Boski (she/her)
Murphy (Sharon Murphy Boski) came to the area to study electronic puppetry and has stayed around to explore her art form of Puppetry here at Mixxer. A professional puppeteer with a 30+ year career in Puppetry Arts, Murphy has found puppetry to be the reason to learn all sorts of (normally) unrelated things. She loves exploring new ways to use old materials and techniques as well as trying new techniques and materials with old ways of working. Her specialty is using 2-D and 3-D art in 4-D art forms.
This class is for makers 9 years old and older. All makers ages 16 years old and under must be accompanied by an adult. Please email workshops@wsmixxer.org for any questions.
