About the event

Area Featured: Computer Lab

Minimum Age: 13 years old

Learn how to turn a 3D scan of a physical object into a 3D model that you can print or use digitally. Access to affordable 3D scanners continues to increase but often produce messy scans that require extra clean up. This class will take you through the process of how to use the tools in the free software Blender to clean up a 3D scan to create a useable file. You will start by importing a small premade scan and by the end you'll learn all the steps to turn it into something you can 3D print! These skills are perfect for turning physical objects of all kinds into something you can print.

This is an intermediate-level class.  Please have a basic working knowledge of Blender before signing up, or start with our Intro to Blender class.

Lead by: Dakota Pahel-Short (she/her)

Hi, I'm Dakota. I went to school for architecture and currently work at a high end furniture design firm running their 3d  printers and doing their 3d modeling and rendering. I've worked in a lot  of different fields from the building construction industry to city planning. I'm sort of a jack of all trades when it comes to making both with my hands and digitally. My current hobbies are home renovation,  cosplay, and building cnc machines. I'm always short on time but I love to brain storm and either get inspired or help inspire others. So come talk to me about your crazy projects!

This meet up is for makers 13 years old and older. All makers ages 16 years old and under must be accompanied by an adult.  Please email workshops@wsmixxer.org for any questions.
