Minimum Age: 9 Years Old
Learn the process of using the laser cutter from designing a wooden LED candle holder to cutting it! In this class, you will learn how to use an online laser cut box generator and Inkscape to create a file using a variety of design skills. After you have created your file, you will then learn how to use Lightburn and Mixxer's laser cutter to bring your file into the real world!
Lead by: Lyssa Troemel (she/her)

Lyssa Troemel is in her third year of studies in Animatronics at UNCSA. Prior to enrolling at UNCSA, she was a props master and puppet builder in the Fort Wayne, IN area. Her work gained the attention of the local band Silbo Gomero and she collaborated with them to produce the award-winning shadow puppet music video “Whale Fall”. She also served on the Board of Directors of Puppeteers of America for two years. She loves to find ways to fuse the arts with technology and continues to do so in her studies. This class is for makers 9 years old and older. All makers ages 16 years old and under must be accompanied by an adult. Please email workshops@wsmixxer.org for any questions.
Workshops must meet a minimum number of registrations. Mixxer may cancel workshop 48 hours prior to start time, if minimum is not met. Should you need to cancel your registration, 48 hours notice is required to request a cancellation, refund or credit to future workshop date.
