About the event
Come learn how to make your laser cutter files from design to cut! This class will teach you how to design a simple pendant file in the free software Inkscape which is perfect for making all your future files for the laser cutter. Then you'll go through the process of how to upload your file and cut out your pendant on the laser. At the end of this class, you will take home a pendant that can be used in a variety of projects and the knowledge you need to keep making your own files for the laser cutter.
Lead by: Lyssa Troemel (she/her)
Lyssa Troemel is in her third year of studies in Animatronics at UNCSA. Prior to enrolling at UNCSA, she was a props master and puppet builder in the Fort Wayne, IN area. Her work gained the attention of the local band Silbo Gomero and she collaborated with them to produce the award-winning shadow puppet music video “Whale Fall”. She also served on the Board of Directors of Puppeteers of America for two years. She loves to find ways to fuse the arts with technology and continues to do so in her studies.
