About the event

Come learn the basics of making (forging or smithing) metal jewelry! You'll go home with a completed chunky textured, hand hammered copper cuff bracelet and an introduction to working with copper using tools and fire.

We will discuss working with copper, learn and practice using Butane torches to anneal your copper, hammers, and forming tools to texturize them and smooth the edges to finish them for ultimate comfort so that they are ready to wear or gift!

Attendees will take home their bracelets along with some info on caring for their handmade wearable metal works of art.

IMPORTANT:  Be sure to wear natural materials (no spandex, nylon, etc.) and long pants that cover your boots or close toed shoes. We'll provide the rest of the safety gear you'll need.

Meet your Instructor!

Elaine Lamson

Elaine joined the Mixxer staff in the summer of 2019 when she moved to the area from Massachusetts. She couldn't be happier to have found a home in both the Triad and Mixxer's Community Makerspace! With a creative background in design & dance, she feels like she's found "her people" by moving to North Carolina and becoming a part of Mixxer's community.

Her superpower is identifying and celebrating in people's talents and strengths.

This class is for makers 16+. Please email workshops@wsmixxer.org for any questions.

Workshops must meet a minimum number of registrations.  Mixxer may cancel workshop 48 hours prior to start time, if minimum is not met. Should you need to cancel your registration, 48 hours notice is required to request a cancellation, refund or credit to future workshop date.
