Adult and Child Welding Experience - Critter Creations

Age Range: Adults 18 and older. Youth ages 10-13 Note: Please wear a shirt that is of natural fibers, jeans, and shoes that completely cover feet. Safety gear will be supplied. Experience the excitement of welding together in this 2-hour introductory class designed for pairs of one adult and one child, ages 10-14. Led by Mixxer Resident Artist Thaddeus Prevette, this hands-on session provides a fun and safe environment for families to explore the basics of welding.

Each child must be partnered with an adult (age 18 or older), and together you’ll learn essential welding techniques, safety protocols, and the basics of metalworking. This class offers a unique opportunity to bond while discovering a new skill.

**Note: A legal guardian must sign a waiver for the participating child. No prior experience is necessary—just bring your curiosity and enthusiasm!

Instructor Bio: Lyssa Troemel is in her third year of studies in Animatronics at UNCSA. Prior to enrolling at UNCSA, she was a props master and puppet builder in the Fort Wayne, IN area. Her work gained the attention of the local band Silbo Gomero and she collaborated with them to produce the award-winning shadow puppet music video “Whale Fall”. She also served on the Board of Directors of Puppeteers of America for two years. She loves to find ways to fuse the arts with technology and continues to do so in her studies.
