About the event
This is an introductory experience into making (forging or smithing) metal jewelry. No experience needed!
You'll go home with custom pair of hand-hammered copper bracelets that you created and an introduction to working with copper using tools and fire. We will discuss working with copper, learn and practice using Butane torches to anneal your copper, hammers and forming tools to texturize them and smooth the edges to finish them for ultimate comfort so that they are ready to wear or gift!
Attendees will take home their bracelets along with some info on caring for their handmade wearable metal works of art.
IMPORTANT: Be sure to wear natural materials (no spandex, nylon, etc.) and long pants that cover your boots or close toed shoes. We'll provide the rest of the safety gear you'll need.

Lead by: Thaddeus Prevette (he/him)

Thaddeus Prevette is a sculpture artist who began working with three dimensional objects back in 2016. He graduated from Western Carolina University in 2020 with a BFA in studio art and graduated from East Carolina University with an MFA in sculpture in May of 2023. He participates in public art exhibitions and was commissioned for the design of the ECU 911 Memorial sculpture back in 2021. He works with recycled and repurposed material to create narrative artwork that is influenced by historic and modern mythologies.
